HereFacts ("we", "us") is operated by Ellym LLC d.b.a. HereFacts. This policy explains what we collect when you use herefacts.com, why, and who we share it with. HereFacts doesn't sell products or take payments.
What we collect
- Addresses and coordinates you search. When you request a report, we store the address or coordinates you entered, the location we matched it to, and the report we built, so the report has a permanent link you can share.
- Messages you send us. The contact and feedback forms send us your name, email address and message by email. We use them only to reply.
- Your account. If you sign in, we store your email address, when you signed up and last signed in, and the reports you save. We email you a one-time sign-in code; we store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it, and it expires after 10 minutes. To stop abuse, we also keep a scrambled copy of the network address the code was requested from, never the address itself. Sign-in codes and those scrambled copies are deleted within a day.
- Newsletter signups. If you subscribe, Beehiiv stores your email address on our behalf.
- Usage and device data. Our analytics, advertising and security providers collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, browser and device type, and cookies or similar identifiers, as described below.
Services we use
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores reports, protects forms from abuse with Turnstile, and delivers our email.
- Google Analytics 4 measures how the site is used.
- Microsoft Clarity records anonymized interactions (such as clicks and scrolling) so we can improve pages.
- Google AdSense shows ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Skimlinks turns some product links into affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission.
- Sentry collects error reports so we can fix problems.
- Beehiiv sends our newsletter.
- Geocoders: to turn an address into a location, we send it to Mapbox or the US Census Geocoder.
- Report data sources: to build a report, we send the report's location (not your identity) to the FCC National Broadband Map data we host, HowLoud, Walk Score, Google's Air Quality service, and the US Census Bureau.
Cookies and consent
In the EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland and Canada, we ask for your consent before analytics and advertising cookies are set, and you can decline. Elsewhere, these cookies are on by default; you can block them in your browser settings.
When you sign in, we set one strictly necessary cookie, __Host-hf_session, that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. A second short-lived cookie, __Host-hf_pending, holds your sign-in progress for up to 15 minutes. These cookies aren't used for analytics or advertising and don't need consent.
How long we keep data
Reports stay available at their link indefinitely. Contact messages stay in our email for as long as we need them to reply and keep a record. You can ask us to delete a report you created or a message you sent.
Your account stays until you delete it at /my/account. Deleting it removes your email address, sessions and saved list straight away. Signing out ends that session at once, and expired sessions are deleted automatically.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, through our contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we honor them.
Children
HereFacts isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and change the date above.
